I was hoping the elite mission will be assaulting the Fortress of Jahai
Well, more semons to slay is nice too :P
EDIT - ^ The scribe doesn't say they're gonna nerf golds: he's refering to the "triple greens" week-end - D'OH!

Elite Mission Information in Scribe #23
Just released in Today's Scribe:
Quote:
Mission for the Elite
Not for the Fainthearted
I have heard early, unconfirmed reports of an unknown region of The Realm of Torment. Though my source is...less than reliable... he reports that this area may contain the most vicious and dangerous adversaries Elonians have faced! However, with great risk comes great reward, and my informant has also begun ranting and raving about the great treasures he saw during his short foray into this mysterious area.
Unfortunately, as I said, my source is not exactly the most reliable of citizens. He is, in fact, the spirit of a corsair who, in his more corporeal form, was known to be overly fond of grog. In fact, the rumor is he drank a Ridgeback Skale under the table during a wild weekend in Mehtani Keys. According to members of the Order of Whispers—who have since apprehended the specter upon his escape to the living realm—the story this ghost has to tell may yet have merit.
The Order of Whispers has had little success in making inroads with this being, and cannot prove or disprove his tale. Hence, they asked me to meet with the condemned corsair and piece together his ramblings to come up with a coherent description, or preferably, directions to this supposed realm of riches. I will include my short interview in this missive. Perhaps others can better to decipher what could simply be the dementia of a deluded mind.
Monastery Scribe (MS): A representative from the Order of Whispers asked that I speak with you about this new area you seem to have stumbled upon. May I ask you your name?
Corsair (KP): They be callin' me Keg-leg Pete, Captain Keg-leg Pete. Scourge of these here seas of Elona, and the deadliest corsair in all the lands!
MS: Do you mean Peg-leg Pete, by chance? I could not help but notice your wooden limb.
KP: If that be what I was meanin', I would have uttered them words, scurvy landlubber. Me name is Keg-leg because I hollowed out this here peg and filled it with a ripe ol' batch of me mum's secret rum recipe. Care for a swig from the ol' Appendage o' Intoxication? Yar har har…
MS: I must pass, with thanks. I am on the job, so to speak. Could you please share with me how you came across this new area?
KP: I's done told the filthy Whisperin' sorts everything I be knowin'. One minute I was fast asleep in me quarters, the next minute I woke up in this dreadful land o' accursed beasts. These monsters would send the heartiest of corsairs climbin' to the crow's nest for safety.
MS: You have spoken to the Order of Whispers about treasures and valuable wares. Is this true?
KP: Aye! Oh the booty these eyes have seen would make the richest lords of Vaabi ache with jealousy. Gold droppin' like rain during a squall, weapons worth more than a boat full of ale! And gems! Oh, the gems! They be like nothin' I ever seen before! I don't know what they be for, but if they be half as valuable as they looked, every treasure-seeking scallywag in this wretched world would gladly pillage his grandmum's house for one such jewel, if that be what it took! If it weren't for those wretched beasts, I'd be the richest spirit in the Rift. Well, would be if I could take me riches with me, that is.
MS: So, how, might I ask, can one gain entry to this new region?
KP: Ah, so you want to be testin' yer might against them demons, eh? Come closer, and I'll whisper it to you. No…closer. These guys have made a whole order about whispers, remember? They got good ears. Ok…first, you need to pick up a back stabbin' landlubber of a first mate. Then you need to be foolish enough to share the map to yer stash with the scurvy dog. Then you need to drink until it's blacker than the blackest night, and like some sort of magic, you will wake up, as a spirit, in that forsaken land of pain and profit!
MS: That is less than helpful. Is there a way to get there that does not involve dying?
KP: Why would I care? I'm dead! HAHAHA!
And with that, the ghostly creature fell into a fit of hysterical laughter and I made a disgruntled departure.
As you can see, I did not get much useful information from the spectral corsair. It seems there was a mutiny on his ship—one that resulted in an unfavorable outcome for the soul in question. Perhaps as some sort of punishment for his life of avarice and violence, he was sent to a realm of unimaginable pain and suffering. And yet, this talk of riches has led the Order of Whispers to endeavor to find a portal to this new area. They are particularly interested in these alleged new gems, as they have never seen gems that fit this "captain's" description, and are eager to learn the nature and use of such items. Their objective is to find a direct path to the excessive riches the corsair claims to have seen. Members of the Order of Whispers will continue to search for a pathway, and upon finding one, will send members of their order ahead to scout the new area. I will keep you up to date with any news of progress in their search.

I'm a tad confused. Anet clearly stated through Gail that the elite mission does not currently exist and won't be added for at least a month, and yet today's Scribe is hinting at how to get to the elite mission as if it's already there? This scribe is just going to serve to further confuse people who haven't seen the message board posts from Gail saying that the mission isn't in the game yet... because there's still nothing (to my knowledge) on the official Guild Wars site stating that it isn't, but now we have a Scribe on the official site hinting at how to find it. O.o
Am I just missing something? It seems to me that the purpose of this Scribe is to re-ignite the pointless "search" for the elite mission that isn't even implemented yet. I truly hope I'm just reading too much into it or something.

Possibly... I also got the impression from it that you might have to get your character drunk while in Torment in order to get there (a nifty idea).
Don't get me wrong regarding my above post, I don't have something against Anet or anything for the Elite mission not being done, I'm just concerned that people might take the Scribe the wrong way and assume the mission is in the game, then get upset again when they're told it's not there yet. Heck, I read Gaile's posts, and I _still_ got the impression that the elite mission is already there when I read today's scribe. :\ If the Scribe's purpose is to keep the speculation about how to get there alive, great, but I think it came off a little confusing.

IMO, the elite mission entrance is in the Chantry of Secrets. There's a sealed gate there, with a pair of Acolyte guards exactly like the closed gates in towns in Factions. When you talk to the acolyte on your side of the gate, he says that the area beyond the gate is closed to the public at this time. If you hold ALT, you can see that there is a statue to the "god of truth" or somesuch behind the gate. That just screams "new god realm" to me, or possibly an access point to the realm of torment that you need to be rank xx lightbringer or above to use.

Actually, after you beat the final NF mission, you're allowed in there and can kneel at the statue to talk to Kormir but she doesn't offer any service at the moment.

Stupid thread, it does not matter if you do +5% extra damage with lightbringer nor if you have a superior vigor rune or major vigor rune in you armor. Can we just relax now ?

Aw damn, I feel silly now.
And +5% damage may not seem like much, but +15% damage or more is a hell of a lot, especially in this game. Think about how much better a +15% ^ 50% hp weapon is compared to a plain max damage weapon. The damage reduction is nothing to sneeze at either; warriors try to scrape together every point of damage reduction they can, and here you can get up to -8 for free. Lastly, Lightbringer's gaze owns demons, but you obviously need to have a decently high lightbringer rank for it to be really effective as an AoE.

First off I will say that is the worse representation of H.P. Lovecraft’s character Zadok Allen. As the dead sailor of drunk spinning widely tales of the great beyond (what is this some type of farce). I’m not really being that serious of course.
Second of all I agree of course it’s going to be in the realm of Toument as a type of extension; but the exact location is a miss to me.

Precisely my thoughts; +5% isn't much, but 15% is significant and the maximum increase of 40% makes a massive difference, especially with high damage skills...
I know this isn't necessarily a practical example, but a warrior with 16 axe mastery, a customised 15^50 axe and r8 LB, unleashes Decapitate on a Margonite spellcaster. Decapitate at 16am is nasty. Decapitate at 16am +40% damage is an execution...

At 25% Damage I'm hitting Margonite spellcasters for..about 90-105 damage on crit hits with a 15^50 sword at 13 swords. That's using a +36 damage skill.

I imagine a zone with Uber demons with alot of HP and dmg, where high lvl Lightbringer will be the difference between taking 5 hours to compelte it and taking the normal 1-2.
I imagine wrong alot though

Hmm, so the new mission involves Demons, Torment Realm, Whispers, Gems and a small cup of Pirates.
As is mentioned before and I said myself: probably the starting point for this mission will be in Chantry of Secrets, only available after you completed the game. Access to this part is similar to access to Factions Elite missions. By getting here, you should have at least had rank 2 in LB points, anyone who doesnt have it yet, is plain STOOOPID.
It will be played in the Realm of Torment, which is quite clearly stated by Anet above. Stygian keys will probably used here.
The enemies will probably have a small chance to drop gems (though greater then other enemies have that chance),which are Rubies, Diamonds and Sapphires, very similar to Obsidian Shards dropping in FoW and Ecto's dropping in UW/Tombs.
Probably we will run into one-legged Corsair NPC's with quests to find some loot for them.
AND OFCOURSE GWEN, EVIL PIRATE QUEEN!!!

Looking at all the posts here and am lost, stop posting things that have noting to do with the elite mission. First off the gate to the mission is in the realm of torment and ONLY THERE YOU MAY access it. Now stop with the remarks to the hidden city or the nightfall city cuz the mission don't have anything to do with loot. The loot comes from the chests in there that are 1.5k to get, and rarely do they drop off mobs in there. Then the greens well there always for the melee class so i don't see how you will get loot if you with 12 people anyway.
Plus this elite mission is 100% done when it comes out, unlike the missions in factions who were at 30% done as in content and was missing like tons of stuff that was planned to be added in. This mission will not be as easy as the deep, that i can tell you now so you don't think this will be some stupid mission were people go in and get loot off the bat.
First off there needs to be no gate to enter a mission like this, it can be simple quest/npc that you find out there that lets u in, look at the hidden city gate if you dont look there you wont of known there was a gate there. I think i wait in till the update and see if it says elite mission open, or they server-side open the mission and was update in forms of them 4 patches in parts.
It has to be today the update, look at how long we are with no updates, it Friday and i know for anet comes out with a patch each week. Also the scribe says it will tells us more next week, that means it come out today, i hope as it was hinting at that. Also the order is us not the npcs as were allied with the order so better get ready to night for some elite mission hinting and i ask people to go look around the vortex "DRUNK" now if they server-sided this as it seems they did do a lot of server-side add-ons to nightfall.
